Data Request
Data for any of the ADAPT lab Projects can be requested. Please read how to successfully request data and make sure you have followed all the steps! The minimum turn around time for a data request is 3 weeks. Please prepare accordingly.
Directions for Submitting Project Ideas and Data Usage Agreement
- Review Smartsheet for information on previous submitted or in progress projects using the dataset you are interested in working on. For access to this Smartsheet page, please email Dr. Jackson. This will include checking the SPARK Papers in Progress, SPARK Papers in Review, SPARK Published Papers, PAIR Papers in Review, PAIR Published Papers, and Paper Proposal and Data Request pages (depending on the project data you plan on using). Access to any of these links can be requested through an email to Dr. Jackson.
- Review codebook for the database you plan on using for your project. To obtain access to the database codebook, email Dr. Jackson.
- Submit an initial project proposal to Dr. Jackson for review using the “Jackson Lab Research Project Proposal Form.” This form can be found on the first row of the “Paper Proposal and Data Request” page on Smartsheet. The project proposal must be one to two pages and include the following information: Title of the project, names of all the investigators, rationale for the project, your research questions, the planed methods and analyses, project timeline, and project outlet.
Following email approval from Dr. Jackson on the project proposal, fill out a Data Usage Agreement form. This form can be found on the first row of the “Paper Proposal and Data Request” page on Smartsheet.
Complete this form. This will include submitting your finalized project proposal and a signed copy of your Data Usage Agreement.
Dr. Jackson will review and then sign the uploaded Data Usage Agreement. Dr. Jackson will email you any requested edits or changes.
Following approval of the data usage agreement, your data will be uploaded to the storage program as identified on your Data Usage Agreement. You will receive a confirmation email from the database manager once this is complete.
Additional Steps
If you need to make an addendum to your Data Usage Agreement for additional data requests, fill out the “addendum” section of your Data Usage Agreement form. Upload this updated form to the “Paper Proposal and Data Request” page on Smartsheet. This should be added to a new line, not the same line as your last request.
If you are submitting your project for publication, remember to update the status of your project on the identified Smartsheet pages for your project, such as the SPARK Papers in Review, SPARK Published Papers, or PAIR Published Papers Smartsheet pages.
